Hola! We're Ariadna and Viki, two friends from Barcelona who met in Catholic school and became friends during our school summer camps. Life has now scattered us across non-European Union Europe - Ariadna lives in London, UK, and Viki in Bern, Switzerland - but our friendship is as strong as ever.
We don't talk every day, or even monthly, but our primary mode of communication has evolved into sending each other TikToks. We've been communicating in this way for five years now, and our feeds have become a shared, chaotic mirror of our humour, politics and daily obsessions. We know you also have that childhood friend you only send memes to, we are not that special.
Every time we go back home [Barcelona], we find ourselves trying to explain to our friends what we are talking about. We are mostly meet with "no, I don't have tiktok, I'm too old for that" or "I'm not on social media" but we are here to tell you to fucking quit it. We are going to do you a favour and bring you the curated algorithm, built brick by brick by us, so we can finally understand each other.
We write in English and Catalan, because no matter where we live, we can't help but be more Catalan than crema catalana. Whether you're here for TikTok sociology, gentrification despair, homesickness, or just a good laugh, welcome to the algorithm. Let's keep brainrotted xx

Hola! Som l’Ariadna i la Viki, dues amigues de Barcelona que es van conèixer a l’escola catòlica i es van fer amigues durant les colònies d’estiu d’anglès. La vida ens ha repartit per l’Europa extracomunitària: l’Ariadna viu a Londres, Regne Unit, i la Viki a Berna, Suïssa. Però la nostra amistat ha seguit tan arrelada com sempre.
No parlem diàriament, ni tan sols mensualment, però la nostra forma principal de comunicació ha evolucionat a enviar-nos TikToks. Portem comunicant-nos així des de fa cinc anys, i els nostres feeds s’han convertit en un caòtic mirall compartit d’humor, política i obsessions diàries. Sabem que tu també tens una amiga de la infància amb qui només t’envies mems; no som tan especials.
Cada cop que tornem a casa [Barcelona], ens trobem intentant explicar als nostres amics del què estem parlant. Normalment, ens responen amb un “uff no, jo no tinc TikTok, sóc massa gran per aquestes coses” o “no tinc xarxes socials”. Però hem vingut a dir-vos que ja n’hi ha prou de tanta tonteria! Us farem un favor portant-vos una selecció del nostre algoritme, construït granet a granet per nosaltres, perquè finalment ens puguem entendre.
Escrivim en anglès i català perquè, tant se val on vivim, no podem evitar ser més catalanes que la crema catalana. Tant si estàs aquí per la sociologia de TikTok, per la desesperació causada per la gentrificació, per l’enyorança de la nostra pobra-bruta-trista-disortada-pàtria, o simplement per uns bons jajas, benvinguda al nostre algoritme. Que no pari la descomposició mental! :P
